Bohol island
Bohol is an island in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It is home to the famous Chocolate Hills, the Tarsiers Sanctuary, Whale shark watching, and Panglao Island among others. Bohol is a very green island, especially in the center and in the North part. In Tagbilaran City center you can find anything from motorcycle parts to well-known bubble tea brands and so on. I would recommend staying on Panglao island and visit Bohol from there.
How to arrive on Bohol: There two main ways to arrive on Bohol
By plane to Tagbilaran International Airport - I recommend taking AirAsia
By boat - Oceanjet
What to see and do on Bohol:
Chocolate hills: The first thought that may arise to your mind is βwhy on earth are these hills called Chocolate Hills?β and you would be totally right. No, there are not made out of chocolate (I removed the doubt here), it is because during dry season the hills turn in a chocolate type of color resembling giant chocolate mounds. Yep, that is all. Tarsiers Sanctuary: Tarsiers are nocturnal, very sensitive animals. You can see them at the Tarsier Sanctuary 20 minutes from the city center.
Malls: There is a big mall if you need to go shopping, purchase electronics or go to the cinema called ICM mall in Tagbilaran. Following the same idea, Tagbilaran City is probably where you would go if you have anything big to purchase.
St. Joseph the worker - Cathedral Shrine: This cathedral is located in Tagbilaran. From the outside you will notice the mix between old and new architecture, while on the inside, you will get golden ornaments among beautiful altarpieces. If you go there on a Sunday, you will get to witness the Sunday service usually bringing a lot of people!
Panglao Island: Panglao is a small but increasingly popular island situated southwest of, and linked to Bohol by a bridge. It is known for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a laid-back atmosphere. [Read More]
Zip lining in Loboc: Loboc is a region on Bohol Island most famously known for its river and boat restaurants. If you go up a little more youβll arrive at Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Parc. Zip-lining over the Loboc river and in between the hills made me feel so small yet so free, what a beautiful experience that was! For those afraid of heights but who still want to experience going over the river, there is a cable car available
Price : 500 PHP return if you use the Zipline, 400 PHP return with the cable car
Walk to Virgen de Guadalupe: And when i say walk i mean take the scooter for 98% of the trip then walk the 2% left. The road to arrive there is a bit sinuous and not so easy to drive on, especially when concrete becomes rock. Once you arrive at the top you will get a spectacular view of Bohol, and pride because this is not on many touristβs to do lists.
Where to eat on Bohol:
On the way back from Chocolate Hills/Tarsiers Sanctuary there is a place called Nicks diner resto serving good Filipino food (I recommend taking the chicken teryaki).
On the way back from the zip-lining there is a restaurant called Sarimanok Inn and resto
There is an Overgrown cafe too! (see post on Panglao)
Street food on the bridges connecting Bohol to Panglao !!
