Keramas beach

Pantai Keramas (Keramas beach) is a peaceful remote coastal town located in Gianyar Regency on the east side of Bali island, right between Padang Bai and Kuta. During clear days it offers beautiful views of Nusa, and if you have good eyesight you’ll be able to see Lombok as well. Keramas beach, as well as many other beaches on Bali is a notable surf break. The beach is renowned among experienced surfers for its powerful and fast-breaking waves. But this is not only a surfer’s destination if you are looking to be immersed in the traditional Balinese culture.

Where to stay in Keramas (Bali):

Keramas Moonlight Villa - From the rooms and its cleanliness, to the common areas and the staff, to the view. Everything ticks the boxes.

Restaurants in Keramas (Bali):

Waroeng Locas - $ - It is a beachfront restaurant serving western and Indonesian food. It is actually really tasty and has a super relaxed vibe. I recommend the Beef Rendang and the Dadar Gulung (ask without ice cream if you don’t like Neapolitan).

Lukisan Coffee - $ - Located in Gianyar, this place serves local and western food. I recommend the Nasi Goreng, the chicken burger, and the cappuccino.

There are a fair amount of restaurants around. The restaurant located inside the hotel that I recommended (called the shinning Jewel) looks like they serve nice food. Swan restaurant Keramas also seems like it is serving good food with a nice view.

What to do in Keramas and surroundings

Keramas is a place you’d want to visit when you are looking for a quiet, laid back atmosphere.

Walk alongside the beach - From Keramas to Cucukan you will be able to walk partly on sand and partly on a little path. Although quite hot during the day, it is an amazing walk during sunset.

Surf - The waves here are supposedly great for advanced surfers as they break easily. I have not attempted to surf here but it looks like many others enjoy themselves!

Horse riding - If you like horseback riding on the beach during the day or for sunset, Keramas is a place to do it. I have witnessed a woman gallop on her own, which leads to believe you have a lot of freedom.

Visit Kanto Lampo waterfall - Located 23 minutes away from Keramas, Kanto Lampo waterfalls are worth a 7/10. Nice to watch for about 2 minutes then the crowd of tourist waiting to get their photo taken will be annoying. It is nice to walk around in the water too.

Visit the Tibumana Waterfalls - Located 26 minutes away from Keramas, The Tibumana Waterfalls are worth a nice 9/10. From the beautiful little paths and views leading to the waterfalls and the cafes offering a beautiful and calming view on the rice fields. And of course the waterfall itself where you can swing in deep and refreshing waters.

One day trip to Ubud - Keramas to Ubud is only 30 minutes by scooter. Check my blog on Ubud to decide what to do in Ubud!

Explore more of the east of Bali - Keramas is a perfect starting point to check out the eastern part of Bali island.

Visit the aero park - if you are a fan of planes, you can go eat in a plane wreck

Bali Safari - I have not been, but if going to the Bali Safari is on your list, then Keramas if a perfect place to stay.
