Filandia

Filandia is situated in the heart of the coffee-growing region of Quindio, which is part of the Coffee Triangle in Colombia. The town's high-altitude location contributes to its pleasant climate and endless views of the local scenery. The town features colorful buildings with traditional Spanish colonial facades and red-tiled roofs. The central square, known as the "plaza," is often the heart of town life and is surrounded by charming cafes and restaurants, If you like handmade jewelry and stones, you will be served.

For me, Filandia is worth the detour. There is something about that place that you cannot find in Salento, maybe because it is still a bit less touristic. You feel like you are exploring a part of Colombia that not everyone has been to, yet.

That said, you can always visit Salento from Filandia leaving early in the morning. You can either take a Taxi or a public (shared) Jeep. [Read More about Salento]
